Privacy policy.
Planli helps people plan together without turning private calendars into shared data. This policy explains what the Planli iOS app and website handle, how that information is used and the choices you have.
Effective 1 October 20261. Who we are
Planli is an iOS planning application operated by independent UK developer Jack Cummings (“Planli”, “we”, “us” or “our”). For UK data-protection purposes, we are the controller of personal information processed to operate Planli.
You can contact us at support@planli.co.uk.
2. Information Planli handles
Account and profile information
When you create an account, we process your email address, account identifier, display name and authentication information. If you choose to add one, we also process your profile photo. Authentication credentials are handled by Apple and our authentication provider; Planli does not store your Apple password or the one-time sign-in codes sent to you.
Shared planning information
Calendars you create or join, membership, events, dates and times, locations, notes, attendance, invitations and the identity of the person who created or changed a plan are stored so invited members can collaborate and keep plans in sync.
Apple Calendar and on-device information
If you grant permission, Planli reads only the Apple calendars you select to show your plans and find free time. Your private Apple Calendar content is processed on your iPhone and is not uploaded to Planli’s shared database. Personal plans, copied calendars, daily to-dos, preferences, saved ideas and some artwork can also remain on your device unless the app clearly identifies them as shared.
Location, weather and places
If you enable location, Planli uses an approximate, rounded location while the app is active to show local weather and nearby ideas. Coordinates are used transiently for the request and are not saved to your Planli profile; a resulting town or area name may be saved on your device. Search terms and the approximate area may be sent to places and weather providers.
Photos, notifications and technical information
If you select a profile photo, Planli processes that image for your profile and makes it available only to people who share a calendar with you. If notifications are enabled, we store an Apple push token, platform, app identifier and delivery records needed to send and troubleshoot transactional alerts. We may also process limited security and service logs such as request time, error details and account identifiers.
The Planli website
This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Standard hosting logs may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time for security, reliability and abuse prevention.
3. How and why we use information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide personal calendars, shared calendars, events, invitations and synchronisation.
- To show free time, weather, nearby places and tailored planning ideas.
- To deliver reminders and transactional notifications that you enable.
- To answer support or privacy enquiries and diagnose service failures.
- To protect Planli, its users and the integrity of the service.
- To meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.
Under UK data-protection law, we rely on performance of our contract with you to provide the core service; your consent for optional permissions such as location, photos, calendars and notifications; legitimate interests in securing and improving the service; and legal obligations where applicable.
No sale or behavioural advertising. Planli does not sell personal information, serve third-party adverts or use your information for cross-app tracking.
4. When information is shared
People you plan with. Members of a shared calendar can see its title, members and plans, including associated notes, times and locations. People who share a calendar with you may see your display name and profile photo.
Service providers. Planli uses carefully selected providers only where needed to operate a feature:
- Apple for Sign in with Apple, Calendar access, maps, weather services and push notifications.
- Supabase for authentication, the hosted database, file storage, secure server functions and real-time synchronisation.
- Google Places for nearby place information and images.
- Open-Meteo for weather information where used by the current app configuration.
- Resend for transactional invitation or sign-in email where configured.
- Cloudflare for website hosting, content delivery, security and DNS.
Providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their function and process it under their own terms and privacy notices. Some may process information outside the UK. Where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not share data with data brokers.
5. Retention and security
Account and shared-planning information is kept while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. Invitation records expire or are removed when no longer needed. Push registrations are removed when you sign out or delete your account. Limited security, delivery and backup records may remain for a short period where required for reliability, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
Planli uses access controls, encrypted connections and database rules designed so authenticated users can access only accounts and shared calendars they are entitled to use. Profile photos are stored in a private bucket. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please keep invitation links and sign-in codes private.
6. Your choices and rights
You can change Planli’s access to calendars, photos, location and notifications in iOS Settings. In Planli you can change profile details, leave shared calendars, remove content, sign out, and permanently delete your account.
Depending on your circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal information and to receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
To make a request, email us from the address associated with your account. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity. See the account-deletion guide for the fastest way to erase an account.
7. Children
Planli is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Planli’s features, providers or legal obligations change. We will update the effective date above and provide additional notice in the app where a change is significant.
9. Contact
Questions, requests and privacy concerns can be sent to support@planli.co.uk. Please include enough detail for us to help, but never send a password or one-time sign-in code.
